Puerto Banús

In 1970 the visionary José Banús, also called el constructor, built a luxury marina and shopping complex for the jet-set that is called Puerto (José) Banus. At the opening of Puerto Banús in may 1970 it was attended by the film director Roman Polanski, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and the prince and princess of Monaco.

The luxury marina

The marina has berths for up to 915 boats from 8 to 50 meters. On both the western and the eastern side of the port there is public beaches. Behind the marina the streets are filled with luxury brand shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs and is very busy the warmer half of the year.

Shopping

In Puerto Banús you can find all the big designer shops like Gucci, Armani, Boss, Dolce & Gabbana to Dior. Every saturday a street market is held and stretches all the way from Puerto Banus to Centro Plaza at the bullring. At the street market you can find everything from fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, antiques, clothes and the common tourist souviners. Behind the main area in Puerto Banús, the one with all the bars, you can find a permament market between April and October. You also find more restaurants like the Hard Rock Café, a cinema complex that also shows movies in their original languages i.e mostly english. El corte Inglés is big popular department store.

Restaurants

La Sala
A new restaurant between Puerto Banús and Centro Plaza that opened in October 2010. Stylish and trendy London Brasserie style. La Sala offers breakfast, a all day menu and ofcourse an A La Carte menu. Main courses from about 18 €. La Sala serves generous portions of quite excellent food.
We recommend you to book a table in advance.

Hard Rock Café Marbella
Also fairly new to the Puerto Banús is the Hard Rock Café Marbella. Located right next to El Corte Ingles and the square. If you have been to any other Hard Rock Café's then you know what to expekt. TexMex-American style food with ribs, burgers, tacos. Decorated with gold records, pictures of artists, guitarrs etc.

Khans Indian restaurant
On the east side on the front line of Puerto Banús you find this instituation and is a sure choice if you are up for some Indian spicies. Open for lunch and dinner.

Los Bandidos
Swedish & French style cuisine in a classic Puerto Banús restaurant. Opened in 1976 by French / Swedish Jill Lindberg. Los Bandidos is allways busy and renowned for it's early days with guests like Sean Connery. You will find Los Bandidos on the east side of the front line, just next to the Louis Vuitton shop. Open from 7.30 pm until late. Book a table.

Picasso
Picasso is one of the busiest restaurants in Puerto Banús, winter or summer it is allmost allways full. It has reasonable prices compared to the Puerto Banús standard. I recommend to share a Greek Pizza and the Picasso Sallad with a friend or partner. The pizzas are quite big and this combination feels like a healthier choice and the combination is very nice.

Bars and Nightclubs

Terrablues
Small and in high season very crowded bar with loud music and a real character of owner. A favourite amoung many the later part of the night.

FUBAR
Irish bar with friendly atmosphere...

La Habana de Hemingway
Busy late night venue...

O'Gradys
A little bit cheaper bar on the east end of 2nd street, just behind Los Bandidos restaurant. Usually quite busy.

Old Joys PUB & Piano Bar
The choice if you want to enjoy a drink, sit down and listen to some live music.

And many, many more...
We recommend you to leave your rental car at your hotel or rented accommodation and take a Taxi (phone 952823535 / 952774488) for a night in Puerto Banús. If you did not book your rent a car yet we think it is time that you do that now.
