Estepona
When you rent a car in Malaga, Spain, one small medeteranean town worth a visit is Estepona (about 15 kilometres west of Marbella).
History
Archeological findings show that Estepona has been a populated area since the Roman times. In 1457 Henry IV of Castile captured the town from the Moors.
Estepona port and Marina
The port and marina is a still functioning fishermans port that also offers a variety of bars and restaurants as well as the weekly street market on sundays.
Location
Estepona is located at the foot of the Sierra Bermeja mountains. The mountains is the reason why Esteponas microclimat gives the residents and visitors more than 325 days of clear skies and sunshine.
Estepona is located about 75 km west of Malaga and 45 km east of Gibraltar. Follow the A7 highway (autovia) along the coast from either direction to get to Estepona.
Restaurants
For such a small town the selection of restaurants is quite big. You can find a variety of genuine Spanish cuisine to Medeteranean, French, Italian, Asian and Greek restaurants. The prices in Estepona are more reasonable then in the neighbouring Marbella.
