Beaches in and around Malaga on the Costa del Sol

Find your favourite beach

If you rent a car when you go on holiday to Costa del Sol in Spain it is very easy to get around and try a different beach every day. Then you might just find a favourite. With more then 300 days of Spanish sunshine you will have a lot of oportunities to go to and enjoy the beach.

At most beaches it is possible to rent sunbeds, umbrellas. If there is showers at the beach it will be posted where you enter the beach. Parking is also possible just above the beaches so you don't have to walk very far if you don't wan't to .
Restaurants (chiringitos) and bars is also very common.

Nerja, East of Malaga

Along the coast around Nerja there are quite a few beaches. They are usually bit more pebbled but nice.Some of the beaches are quite small and surrounded by rocks that gives good shelter if you are unlucky to be here on a breezy day.

Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Benalmadena beaches

In Torremolinos the beaches are fun and noisy in high season. The beach stretches for seven kilomtres so there is easy to find a good spot even if it is busy. A variety of water sports is available at Benalmadena Marina.
Between Benalmadena and Fuengirola the beach is small and in a rocky cove and rocky seabed. There are both non-nudist and nudist areas.

Beaches between Mijas and Marbella

The old highway follows the coast and it is easy to turn off where ever you want and you will find a nice piece of beach. The sand on these beaches are as good as it gets in this region and the beaches are very popular.

Marbella beach

Along the Marbella promenade is the beach. It follows the city and continues all the way to Puerto Banús. If you want to combine the city life in Marbella with nice restaurants, shopping but also wan't to be just a short walk to the beach. Well, then I think the beaches of Marbella is perfect for you.

The beach in San Pedro de Alcantara

West of Marbella and Puerto Banús is the small town of San Pedro de Alcantara. Down at the sea you'll find a quite short but nice promenade and a beach that is not very busy. It is some pebbles and stones in the shore line and the sand is not as good as on the east side of Marbella.

Estepona beach

Estepona is a nice calm typical Spanish town. We find it to be very relaxed.
The promenade is wide and connected to the beach. On the Estepona beach you can find playgrounds and restaurants that makes it a perfect destination for the family with small children.

Tarifa - Kite surfers paradise

Technically Tarifa is not on the Costa del Sol. However if I am writing about the beaches in the south of Spain I cannot leave out the Tarifa beaches.
Tarifa has something that might not be apreciated by everyone but for the Kite and windsurfers the steady wind from the atlantic is vital. The beach in Tarifa has finer sand then that found on most beaches on then Costa del Sol, which can be a bit rough sometimes.
Because of the fame amoung surfers Tarifa is visited by a lot of very relaxed and some may say that it is influenced by a spartan lifestyle. If you do or do not like to try out kite surfing I still highly recommend to visit Tarifa. In the summer time there is a lot of party in Tarifa town.
